Zaptag
Pros: Zaptag is an online storage service for personal
health records. Online information can be integrated into the Zaptag USB
medical ID. The Zaptag online PHR tool comes with a 14-day free trial. Since
information is web-based, the user is not tied to a particular computer
to access his/her medical records. The PHR can be accessed, viewed, or edited
from any web browser in any part of the world. Medical data can also be
shared with one’s health providers to allow for remote monitoring. The user
interface features labeled tabs that allow for quick referencing of information.
The site is very easy to use and navigate.
Cons: Account activation is a multi-step process, which
rather seems unnecessary. The activation email takes time to arrive. Zaptag
PHR does not include tools managing or maintaining health records of several
persons (e.g. family members). The Zaptag medical ID runs on Windows XP
and Vista computers only; the software does not support Mac. No online demo
is available, so users are not able to pre-assess features prior to registration.
The Bottomline: Zaptag is a personal health record and
storage service targeted for individuals. While the activation process is
not the smoothest, the actual PHR interface is easy to use and navigate.
Subscriptions are moderately priced. There’s no online demo available, but
a 14-day free trial allows customers to try the actual software before fully
committing themselves to the service.
