Records for Living

Pros:
Records for Living offers a PHR online tool as well as several medical references. A 15-day free trial is offered to all potential users prior to purchase. Software and data are stored on the user’s personal computer. The PHR is called Healthframe – The Family Health Organizer.

Cons: HealthFrame interface is required and may be downloaded for $39.95 or purchased as a CD for $49.95. Once downloaded, the program saves data to an individual’s hard drive. Data is not saved online. This means that the program and data both take up space on a user’s personal computer and are not available on the Internet.

The Bottomline: HealthFrame is a fee-based software program for maintaining, organizing, editing, and tracking personal medical information. Information is stored on members computers rather than on a secure online web server. It is debatable whether this is a positive or negative, depending on your view of the benefits of secure online storage.
