Securamed Editor’s Rating:

While Securamed offers a multitude of tools, the fact that several site links are broken is concerning. The inability to ascertain future charges for the PHR after the free trial period is also a problem. Due to the broken links, review of the ease of use of the interface is impossible.

SynChart Editor’s Rating:

SynChart is a fee-based PHR for individuals or families. There is no free preview for users to try the interface prior to purchase. With the vast number of similar tools available for free, there does not seem to be any significant advantage to this particular program.

Telemedical.com is a free online medical resource center that includes multiple services for members. The site is not particularly intuitive and users may have difficulty navigating to the desired areas.

The Smart PHR Editor’s Rating:

The Smart PHR offers a wide range of access options, the user interface of the record itself is rather confusing. Even after navigating through the various options and screens, it wasn’t really clear how the Clipboard, Everyday Chart and Life Agent care plans integrated and could best be used. Perhaps, some thought could lend a plan; however, the average user may not want to take the time required.

VitalChart.com Editor’s Rating:

PHR management is one part of VitalChart.com, a health-related online resource center. All features are free to use. The site is somewhat unwieldy and may be confusing to users.

VitalLife ID Editor’s Rating:

VitalLife is a self-contained USB drive attached to a wallet-sized card. The included PHR allows users to take vital medical information with them wherever they go. The drive stored data in html and pdf files and is compatible with most computers. Users should review other available fully portable PHRs as the price of this one may be prohibitive for some.

WakefieldSoft HealthFile Editor’s Rating:

WakefieldSoft HealthFile is a good alternative to the USB portable PHR tools. It is less expensive and contains areas for recording detailed medical information. The only limitation is that it is not Mac or iPod compatible. There is a Palm OS software to use with Macs, but no desktop access.
