Patient Power
Pros: Patient Power has four plans, or levels for personal
health record management. Level One, the basic personal health record management
tool, is free. The higher level plans allow users to access more complex
tools for more thorough information gathering.
Cons: Additional services beyond the basic have fees starting
at $25 attached. It is unclear as to whether some fees are one-time or annual.
The Bottomline: The Level One interface is very easy to
use and is free of charge. The additional options are all at varied costs
and the features can be found at other online PHRs for free.

Summary:
Patient Power is an online partially
fee-based PHR. The basic health data recording software and storage is free
of charge, however advanced features such as storing scanned documents or
imaging studies entail fees.

Features:
____________________________________________________________
Level One
Level One is a program called My Medical Folder that is a repository for
medical information. A fast registration process allows users to access
the software and begin entering health related information immediately.
This portion of the service is free of charge.

Level Two
In addition to Level One services, Level Two includes 24/7 Clinical Call
Center access, direct communication with the user’s primary physician,
and a Patient Power Electronic Record Carrier (PERC) (basically a CD Rom).
Level Two costs $25 USD for the Call Center and Physician Contact. The PERC
is $10 more. Additional cards with updates are $5 each.
Level Three
Including the features of Levels One and Two, Level Three adds the option
of adding up to 10 images per year to the Medical folder of the user. These
may include x-ray reports, discharge summaries, or lab values. The charge
for this service is $25, with an extra $2 per page after the first 10.
Level Four
In addition to all of the previously mentioned features, Level Four includes
the opportunity to incorporate radiological images into the interface. The
cost of this level is $15 per study.
