Patient Ally (a part of Office Ally)

Pros: The Internet-based personal health record tool at Patient Ally is free to use.

Cons: The website is cumbersome and some sections are not clearly explained. Even signup was complicated, with the login link continually giving error messages until a new account with new email was setup. Next, during testing, user was unable to login once account was created. When seeking a temporary password, that did not work either. Unable to access the PHR at all during this test.

The Bottomline: This website is not user-friendly. It requires multiple steps to enter information, and many do not work properly. There are tons of free PHRs out there. Steer clear of this one.

Profile
The profile section includes general information, insurance information, pharmacies, and forms. The forms include medications, allergies, surgical history, medical history, immunizations, family history, and social history. A pop-up window allows users to enter information. Unfortunately, many common medications are not recognized, graphics do not load, and this tends to be frustrating.

Healthcare Requests
In this area, users may arrange eVisits, appointments, submit health forms, request prescription refills, and upload documents or images. In order to use these services, the appropriate healthcare provider must subscribe to Office Ally.

Test Results
This is where users may save lab data and track vitals. In attempting to use this feature, an error message appeared each time data was entered.
