Pros: MyMeds personal health record software allows users to maintain medical records for up to six people. The program is secure and all information is stored on the user’s computer.

Cons: The program download is $19.95/year (this includes updates). CD-ROM versions are $19.95 + shipping and handling of approximately $5.95 with a $19.95 annual fee. There is no online backup of data. This program is still not compatible with Mac OS. The “Showcase” contains only one image. There is no way to know whether this PHR is easy to use or not.

The Bottomline: MyMeds is a PHR that is available either via download or CD. Updates and future versions will be via download only. The software must be installed on a computer to use. Costs are moderate, and cover up to six sets of records. The system appears easy-to-use, but potential buyers cannot try the software or view demos prior to purchase.

Printable Medication/Allergy List
Users may print a list of current medications and allergies to take to doctor’s appointments. SmartDosage© technology contains listings of the 750 most frequently prescribed and over the counter medications. This database is periodically updated. Users will be informed of updates via the email data entered during registration. These updates will be available as downloads from the website.



MyMeds ESP
The MyMeds model is ESP: Easy, Safe, Practical. It is easy, with a point and click information entry system; safe, with information stored on each user’s individual computer; and practical, with 750 of the most commonly prescribed medications listed in the SmartDosage feature. Meds will be updated periodically.



Secure
Information is stored on the user’s computer and is password protected. Site registration is required to receive updates.
