MyOMR
Pros: MyOMR (Online Medical Registry) provides safe storage
for your personal health records. The site allows patients to track and
manage their own personal health information. User interface is clean, organizing
different health data into neat categories. Since data is web-based, records
are accessible from any web browser; no data is ever lost. If preferred,
the medical registry can be integrated into a portable medical ID. You only
pay once – no monthly or annual subscription. There are two ways to avail
of the MyOMR service. One, you can buy a Medical ID and you get MyOMR services
for free. Prices start at $24.95. Two, you can skip the Medical ID and purchase
just the service – one-time fee is $29.95. MyOMR has a 24-hour live chat
support and phone support.
Cons: There are no demos available on the website, so users
cannot try the OMR to evaluate its ease of use until they have registered.
Unless you have a Medical ID, emergency personnel will not be able to view
your information without your access code. The covered medical information
is limited – the dashboard does not include sections for lab results and
growth charts.
The Bottomline: MyOMR is a basic PHR tool that lets you
store, update, and view your medical information. MyOMR simplifies hospital/clinic
visits, too, but patients who want a PHR tool for emergencies must purchase
a Medical ID. There are no outstanding features and no section for child-focused
medical information. Parents who want the best tool for keeping track of
their kids’ health have to look for a solution somewhere else.
