MedKey
Pros: MedKey is a personal health record tool housed on
a USB flash drive, making all records completely portable. The software,
MedBytes, connects with Microsoft HealthVault. The MedKey is available as
a USB drive, wristband, RFID card. (Label and scanner are available for
healthcare professionals to utilize with patient records).
Cons: Emergency MedKey costs $19.95 + shipping and handling
and has very basic information storage. Individual MedKey costs $39.95 +
S&H with more features, and the Family MedKey costs $59.95 with a family-oriented
PHR. Most video instructions have no audio to clarify information for users.
The video on the initial page has audio that is not accurate for the screen.
The Bottomline: There are several pieces to this MedKey
system and all of them are costly. The instructional videos have no audio
and are disorienting without it unless the user is prepared to follow along
quickly with the video.
