Keas

Pros: Keas has changed from a free PHR to a wellness “game” for employers to use to help employees to improve healthy habits. It uses games and challenges to motivate groups within a company to work together in a social/gaming environment to facilitate wellness.

Cons: The Keas plan is only available to employees of companies who have adopted the plan.

The Bottomline: This appears to be a great social/gaming application, but is only available within companies, not to individual users.

Summary:
Keas offers a new spin on wellness programs for companies. By tapping into employees attraction to the “power of play”, the wellness program incorporates challenges and social media games into its wellness application. Individual memberships are not available.

The Power of Play
Keas has found that behavior changes are more easily changed with positive reinforcement. The wellness program organizes people onto teams and has them engage in challenges with prizes such as cash, badges, points, quizzes, and other incentives. Peer pressure can inspire people to comply with the plan. Games are motivating and the goal is lower healthcare costs by improving the health of the employees.

There are several videos on the website that explain the benefits. The big negative is that there is no public version of this application.
