Social Media and Personal Health Records:
A Natural Pairing or Threat to Privacy?
Rewards
Ultimately, assimilating social networking and PHRs will likely yield more
users for PHRs. The most desirable benefit is for the user, who will hopefully
gain a social network of supportive friends with similar healthcare issues
and needs; increased compliance with their treatment plans; increased healthy
behaviors; and improved communication with healthcare providers.
Will PHR vendors begin integrating social networking? This seems very likely.
Now we just have to wait to see how.
